Frequently asked questions

Clear, factual answers to the questions clients raise most often.

What happens to my personal and medical data?+

We collect only what's needed to quote and administer your cover. Ages, not dates of birth, are used for estimates — DOB is only requested at the formal quote stage, and only with your explicit consent. We don't sell or share your data with third parties beyond the underwriter and, where relevant, your employer's scheme administrator.

How is renewal pricing determined each year?+

Your renewal reflects standard rate-table pricing for your age band, area of cover and plan — the same table every client on that plan is priced from. The largest single driver of a noticeable jump is crossing into a new age band: those steps are real, and can be several times the ordinary annual adjustment. If you feel your renewal doesn't reflect your circumstances, you can request a discretionary review directly from your client portal; adjustments are considered case by case and are never guaranteed, but the request costs nothing and is always reviewed.

What happens if I need to claim, or need a MedEvac?+

You contact us or the underwriter's 24/7 emergency line directly — for MedEvac, the underwriter's assistance team coordinates evacuation and we stay involved to ensure the administrative process progresses without unnecessary delay. For routine claims, we can pre-check your submission before it goes in, which is where most delays and rejections arise.

Which areas of the world can't you cover?+

Cover is worldwide, but there are real limits you should hear upfront rather than discover later. The clearest involves the USA: we can't cover US nationals living in the USA, and no one can be covered for a stay in the USA longer than six consecutive months. If you visit the USA often but in shorter stints, cover is available within those limits — choose the "Worldwide including USA" area of cover and tell your consultant how you travel. A small number of country-specific restrictions also apply; your consultant checks yours before anything is quoted, so there are no surprises at claim time.

I live in my home country most of the year — is international cover right for me?+

Not always, and we'll tell you when it isn't. International private medical insurance is built for people living outside their home country, or out of it for extended periods — as a working rule, more than six months at a time. If you're home-based and travel a few weeks at a stretch, standalone travel insurance is often the more appropriate solution and may come at substantially lower cost. If you're unsure, we'll recommend the solution that best fits your circumstances.

Do you offer travel insurance on its own?+

Yes — alongside full international medical cover, we now offer standalone travel insurance for shorter trips. The two aren't interchangeable: travel insurance is designed to stabilise an emergency during travel and facilitate repatriation where appropriate; international medical insurance is designed to treat you properly wherever you are, for as long as it takes. Which one your situation justifies depends on how long and how often you're away — our Insights page walks through the difference, or ask your consultant directly.

My circumstances changed mid-year — new baby, relocation, job change. What do I do?+

Tell us as soon as it happens rather than waiting for renewal. A new dependant, a change in country of residence, or a shift in employment can all affect the cover you require — some changes can be actioned immediately, others are handled at the next renewal depending on the underwriter's terms. Prompt notification helps ensure your cover continues to reflect your circumstances.

Why isn't monthly payment offered?+

Annual, semi-annual and quarterly are the options because those are the terms our underwriters price and administer cover on — monthly isn't a billing cycle they support for this type of policy. Annual payment generally represents the lowest overall cost; semi-annual and quarterly options carry a modest additional loading.

Which underwriters do you place cover with, and why?+

We place cover with a small number of established international medical insurers rather than one house brand — the underwriter is disclosed to you before you commit, along with their claims-paying track record for your region. We're independent of the underwriter, so our role is to represent your interests, not theirs.
